Overstock.com Bans Exotic Animal Skin Products

Salt Lake City-based Overstock.com has banned products made from exotic animal skins, the firm said Monday, including products made from snake, alligator, crocodile, lizard, ostrich, stingray, eel, shark or kangaroo.
According to the firm, the move was made due to use of "inhumane methods" for processing the skins. Overstock's Patrick Byrne credited PETA for informing the firm of the issues; PETA said it provided an undercover video exposing those practices to Overstock.com, which led to the decision.
Overstock had previously banned sale of fur and ivory products.
