SAWS crew rescues turtle trapped in drainage pipe

SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio Water Systems crew Thursday rescued a turtle that was trapped inside a drainage pipe.





The crew discovered the turtle while searching the pipes for grease clogs in the 100 block of Allendale on the West Side.Workers had to dig and then break through the drainage pipe to try to get to the turtle.



The crew reached the red-eared slider late Thursday afternoon. She was released at Woodlawn Lake.
