Overstromingen in noorden Australië drijven grote krokodillen naar buitenwijken Darwin

Floods push crocs into suburbia

01-03-2010 By Kristy O'Brien, ABC News, Australia

Widespread flooding and huge tides have increased the movement of crocodiles in the Top End, Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife says.

Rangers have found crocs in residential areas around Darwin.

Senior Ranger Tom Nichols says his team has been finding the animals in places they usually are not able to reach.

He says a 3.7 metre saltwater crocodile was caught in Katherine Gorge and another in Manton Dam last week.

He says other crocs have been found in residential areas around Darwin.

"So far we have taken two out of that drain near the Casuarina water park there and that is right in suburbia," Mr Nichols said.
