Woman Feeds Bear In Zoo, Loses Fingers

Manitowoc, WI, United States (AHN) - A woman's thumb and forefinger were bitten off by a bear she tried to feed in a Wisconsin zoo on Friday.



The incident forced the Lincoln Park Zoo in Manitowoc to close for the day.



The 47-year-old woman's other fingers were partially severed when one of two Asiatic black bears grabbed her hand in its mouth.



Her boyfriend tried to pry open the bear's mouth to free her hand but he was also bitten. He did not lose any fingers, though.



The woman's 3-year-old granddaughter was with them but she was unharmed.

The woman ignored barriers and warning signs against feeding the animals.
