Humane Society releases video of cop at cockfight

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A video that shows a uniformed Kentucky State Police trooper at a cockfight in southeastern Kentucky has outraged animals rights activists.

The Humane Society of the United States released the video at a news conference in the state Capitol on Tuesday. It shows the unidentified trooper standing among spectators while roosters attacked one another in an arena near Manchester.

Humane Society official John P. Goodwin said a portion of the video was shot earlier this month. The remainder was shot in January 2009.

Cockfighting is a misdemeanor in Kentucky, punishable by up to a year in jail.

State police had no immediate comment about the video.
