Dierenbescherming Oregon (VS) redt 200 honden uit de kou bij twee fokkers

200 Dogs Rescued From the Cold

11-12-2009 From MyFox National Reports, MyFox Nepa, USA

(MYFOX NATIONAL) - The Oregon Humane Society rescued more than 200 dogs that were living without shelter on Tuesday.

About 100 dogs were rescued from an overwhelmed breeder in Tillamook County. The other 100 were from another breeder in the nearby Burns area.

Some of the animals were living in poor conditions, chained to farm equipment in the freezing cold.
Officials told the Associated Press that the animals had been living off of cattle carcasses obtained from a local meat processing plant.

David Lytle of the Humane Society said the dogs had "a lot of matted hair, matted with fecal matter, urine burns from dogs living too close together. They were just in a really bad situation, but we're going to get them all cleaned up, groomed up, and I think they're going to look nice."

The Humane Society is planning to find new homes for all of the dogs in the coming weeks. The Harney County Sheriff's Office has arrested three people on animal neglect charges in connection with the recovered dogs.
