Elephant kills four in Dhanusha

JANAKPUR, Dec 7: Four including three of a family died in elephant attack in Chisapani, the northern region of Dhanusha on Monday.

The elephant, that is believed to have entered Dhanusha from Sindhuli, has killed Bir Bahadur Bhujel, 60, his wife Kanchhi Maya, 45, their seven-year old granddaughter Gauri and Urmila Devi Mahato, 45, of Godar village.

Half-a-dozen others were injured in stampede when the villagers who were either collecting timbers or guarding grazing animals ran towards village.

According to police inspector Shyam KC, the elephant moved towards Chisapani village. “The elephant has gone mad,” KC said. The police failed to stop the elephant.

According to KC, the elephant also killed three in Udaypur and three in Dhanusha before entering Dhanusha.
